Ignite creativity across Chicago
Lyric ignites creativity by partnering with communities throughout the Chicago area, building on Lyric Opera of Chicago's more than three decades of committed arts education and engagement programming. Through these initiatives, Lyric explores a wide range of ways to collaborate with cultural and community organizations throughout the region; to reach communities for whom opera and opera companies have been largely irrelevant; and to advance the development of opera, examining how opera as an art form can resonate more powerfully, and in a range of different ways, with people of all backgrounds and interests.
Lyric's Learning and Creative Engagement department serves approximately 100,000 people of all ages throughout the Chicago region each season. Programs take place at the opera house, at schools, and at community venues throughout the city, connecting neighborhoods with world-class artistic productions and resources.
